Vital Vitamins and Minerals

Though all kinds of vitamins and minerals are important for a healthy physical development, yet there are some that are more important than others. The list of vital vitamins and minerals include Vitamin A, E, C,  D, K, B, calcium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium.

The vital vitamins help in growth and also help in fighting innumerable diseases. People who suffer from Vitamin A deficiency can suffer from night blindness and other diseases of the cornea. Lack of right amount of Vitamin D will lead to rickets that can harm children aged less than two years.

Lack of Vitamin E on the other hand can increase the risk of various cancers of lungs and breast. Vitamin C saves one from scurvy and Vitamin K is needed for quick clotting of blood. This clotting is important in order to heal a bleeding wound.

Among minerals, our body needs a balance between two kinds of minerals macro and trace.

Minerals like calcium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium are known as macro minerals and iron, zinc, and iodine are called trace minerals. A human body needs the first kind of vitamins more than the second ones. This does not mean that one can do without the trace minerals. No, that cannot be done but it is a good idea to keep a check on the range of minerals in the blood.

The presence of vital vitamins and minerals in your body will make it even stronger and healthier. A balanced diet will help you to get all the vital vitamins and minerals quite easily.
